Are you struggling with grief but bothered by the side effects of the Rx meds your doctor prescribes?  Are you open to natural ways to calm your mind and still your heart?

If you answered “Yes!” you are in the right place.  Today, you will learn how to help yourself with DIY techniques using aromatherapy and face reflexology, with a heaping spoonful of faith to help you find peace in 3 easy steps within minutes.

I’m Grace Richardson, your Graceful Ager, certified clinical aromatherapist and face reflexologist.

In September 2021, I lost my husband, Doug, and daughter, Joanne, 4 days apart. As you can imagine, my life was shattered, and my world was turned upside down.

Everything I will talk about in this article I have personally experienced.

Before I go on, please follow our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@AGracefulApproach for more tips and resources in healing grief through faith, aromatherapy and face reflexology.

Loss has a devastating impact physically and emotionally.  Learning what you can do right now to minimize or stop it in its tracks in 3 easy steps is an excellent place to start.

If you do nothing about it, it will take you down the rabbit hole of depression, hopelessness, and ill health that may ultimately be too late to reverse.

If you rely on medication, it will merely be a “bandaid” on the stress, the pain, and the depressing feelings; the benefit is temporary, and the side effects are immeasurable!

The loss of my husband and daughter was made even tougher because Joanne left a five-year-old little boy who, after being told that his mommy and his papa went to heaven, turned to me and said, “Grandma, I’m glad you didn’t go to heaven.”

That broke my heart into little pieces, literally

How about you? Do you have kids or grandkids who are going through the same pain that you’re going through?

It’s hard to imagine how other people, younger people, like kids, handle the loss of a loved one. Could it be more painful? more unbearable?

I learned one thing. You must be strong for all of you. You must regain your focus on living, restoring your life, and recovering from the devastation and destruction.

Life will never be the same again, and I had to accept that fact!

How was I able to refocus and regain my momentum?

Number One:

I give God the utmost credit. My strong faith helped me recover through praying, reading the Bible, and getting involved in church.

I implemented a prayer list that took my focus off my grief and pain and redirected it to the needs of others.

Number Two:

God gifted me with the tools and skills through clinical aromatherapy and face reflexology. This helped me create a protocol I can teach as a DIY technique to others.

Number Three:

I started this YouTube channel to share how to heal grief through faith, aromatherapy, and face reflexology.

These 3 steps are a simple approach to the day-to-day challenge of grief.

This first step starts with aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a holistic approach to supporting physical and emotional health using pure and efficacious essential oils.

Pure, therapeutic essential oils have powerful and excellent benefits for balancing emotions, reducing anxiety, and bringing calmness.

Simply inhaling the soothing scent of an essential oil like lavender will immediately calm your emotions and ease your grief.

DISCLAIMER: I only recommend doTERRA essential oils for purity and efficacy.  I do not guarantee the quality and purity of other brands.

This second step is face reflexology, or stimulating your face to awaken energy flow, release tension, and stimulate the circulatory systems. This
complements the benefits of aromatherapy.

There are reflex points on the face that, when stimulated, can bring calmness and peace.

Apply gentle pressure to specific points on your face and immediately feel less stressed, calmer, and more at peace.

This step is an essential tool that should always be the first part of the healing process.  I leaned heavily on my faith in God,

Whether you believe in a higher power or God, the Creator of heaven and earth and everything in them, a solid spiritual foundation can provide comfort and strength during difficult times. Praying, meditating on God’s word, and reflecting on God’s promises is essential to surviving as a victor, not a victim.

Let’s learn the 3 easy steps to DIY grief to calm down in minutes.

The following pure, therapeutic essential oils have powerful and excellent benefits for balancing emotions, reducing anxiety, and improving sleep.

Lemon is referred to as the “oil of focus.” It is delightful in aroma, engages the mind, and aids concentration. It improves one’s ability to focus, counterbalances mental fatigue, restores energy, and calms fears and insecurities. It also releases feelings of despair and hopelessness.

Lavender – the “oil of concentration and calm”, supports the release of tension, racing thoughts, anxiousness, and sleep disruption.  It liberates the self-inflicted prison and allows for the communication of deep feelings.

Peppermint oil is the “oil of the buoyant heart”. It invigorates the body, mind, and spirit. The power of Peppermint can be felt most in times of discouragement and despair. It helps regain the strength needed to face emotional reality.

The 2 ways you can use these oils are:

1) Aromatically -inhale from the bottle, drop in a diffuser, or place a drop in your hand, rub the hands together, cup to the face, and inhale.  Be careful with Peppermint.  Make sure you don’t rub your face as it is a hot oil

2) Topically, dilute with 1-2 drops of carrier oil like FCO and apply to the chest, shoulders, or neck.

Let me tell you how to stimulate the face to support the body and emotions and complement the power of essential oils.

Before I start stimulating my face, I always start with Aromatherapy.

Mood balancing through inhalation of the essential oils dramatically enhances the effects of face stimulation.

There are reflex points on the face that, when stimulated, can bring calmness and peace within minutes!

First, let’s hydrate the skin. Use only a drop or two of Lavender, dilute with FCO, and apply it to your face.  Apply gently and slowly, enjoying the pleasing scent of the Lavender and the feel of your fingers on your face.  Make sure you spread the oil all over your face and neck.  Do this for about 1 minute

Then, take your knuckles and stimulate the forehead, where the head/brain is reflected.

Rub gently but firmly for 2-3 minutes until you feel calmer.

This is the most important tool I used. I leaned on my faith in God, grateful for my strong spiritual foundation. I prayed and read the Bible. I asked people in my community to pray for me.

I got involved in my church community and started to serve. I joined The Call Ministry, which teaches how to disciple and evangelize others. But the biggest thing that I started was a prayer list.

I asked other people if they needed prayers. I put them on my list and started praying for them. This gave me purpose. It brought me closer to God, I believe.

It also took my focus away from my grief and put it on others who are also going through struggles.

Giving others hope for their situation through prayer gave me hope and strengthened my hope in the Lord.

Comment here and request prayer if you need it. As I said, praying for others helped me shift my focus from my grief to helping others instead.
